Meet the 2026 Boudoir Brand Ambassadors!

The results are in! When I posted about brand ambassadors last summer I received dozens of incredible applications from so many beautiful people, and I’m deeply touched by how many of you wanted to take this journey with me! In the end there were so many phenomenal applicants that I couldn’t pick just oneโ€”so I picked four!

Is that a silly, overwhelming decision for my first year trying something new? Probably. But I’m an Aries, so I never do anything small.

We kicked off 2026 by getting together for a casual pizza party meet and greet, and since everybody turned up so cute, we did a group photo and headshots as well as discussing the team’s goals and projects for the year.

Want to be a Boudoir Brand Ambassador? Applications are Open!

A promotional flyer for Neon Velvet Studio boudoir photography Brand Ambassador applications for the 2026 season. image features a woman with rainbow hair and dramatic makeup looking dreamily into the distance. the purpose is to introduce a blog informing how you can earn a free boudoir shoot as a boudoir brand ambassador!

Brand Ambassadors have more fun

You’re obsessed with boudoir. I get it. Me too, honestly! You love that it’s fun, empowering, versatile, and infinitely personalizableโ€”it can be sexy, funny, powerful, or sweet! It can be masc, femme, or somewhere in between.

For 2026 I’m launching the first boudoir Brand Ambassador program for Neon Velvet Studio, and I’m looking for a few bold babes who love boudoir photos, content creation, and uplifting others to help me grow my studio and community! In exchange for your promotional work, you get a totally free boudoir session in 2026, including all the luxury pampering you’d get with a paid boudoir photoshootโ€”hair and makeup styling, wardrobe, and posing guidance!

What does it mean to be a brand ambassador for a photography studio?

boudoir photograph of a curvy Black woman with long natural hair wearing a black bodysuit and statement accessories. She's seated on a fluffy bed and has a powerful commanding air.

First and foremost, you love Neon Velvet Studio! You vibe with my artistic aesthetic and core values. You want to help represent Neon Velvet Studio out in the world!

You encourage community. You hype up others for being their gorgeous authentic selves. You want to shout from the rooftops about how boudoir can be a transformative experience on the self-love journey.

Your responsibilities will include sharing your photos and being informative and enthusiastic about your Neon Velvet photoshoot experience. This can include instagram posts and reels, TikTok and YouTube shorts of video/behind the scenes content and outtakes, participating regularly in the private Facebook community, and writing a blog post about your experience! There’s more you can do too, but this is the minimum.

This is a one year appointment, beginning in January 2026 and running through December. Each boudoir Brand Ambassador will help me test new studio setups, mini session themes, and exclusive promotions. I pick the details, but you’ll get a chance to customize your experience; if you hate Valentine’s Day I’m not gonna put you in pink and hearts! This is a mutually beneficial thing. I want us all to enjoy the experience.

Who can apply?

I know this sounds insufferable, but as these will be people I’ll be working closely with for an entire year I’m going to be making the decisions on ✨vibes✨. Anyone who feels excited about the info presented here is encouraged to apply. Maybe you’re at the beginning of your self-love journey, or maybe you’re a confident cutie. As long as you’re passionate about uplifting others, you don’t need boudoir modeling experience. You do need to love social media though, because that’s where I need the most help.

If you have any special skills or experience you think would be relevant or beneficial I encourage you to brag! I love getting to know people.

NV Brand Ambassadors Must:

  • be over 18 at the time of application
  • sign a full model release
  • understand that your photos/videos will be shared publicly online in my portfolio, social feed, and marketing materials
  • align with Neon Velvet Studio’s values and represent them publicly
  • be LGBTQ+ or a strong advocate and ally to the community
  • be body-positive and gender-inclusive
  • be active on social media (even if you don’t have a huge following)
  • participate in the NV online community
  • commit to at least 1 boudoir session in 2026 in the greater Philadelphia area (and ideally be based in PA, NJ, DE, NY, or MD)
  • not currently be affiliated with another photographer as a brand ambassador/employee/work associate/etc. (this is just to prevent confusion! If you’ve been a brand ambassador for another photographer in the past you’re still welcome to apply and explain the circumstances in your application)

NV Brand Ambassadors do not have to:

  • have modeling experience
  • have a particular body size or shape
  • be a cis woman or present in a femme way
  • be influencers

NV Brand Ambassadors Must Not:

  • be racist, homophobic, fat phobic, or bigoted. No TERFs, no SWERFs, no fascists.

When Will Brand Ambassadors Be Announced?

Great question. I don’t know. It’s my intention to reply to every applicant, and I will be accepting applications until 8/31/25. How long after applications close will depend on how many people apply!

Plus Size Boudoir: Love Your Curves And Your Session

getting beautiful boudoir photos as a plus-sized person

photo from a bestie boudoir photoshoot depicting two curvy best friends posing in lingerie. Leftmost person is a heavily tattooed plus-sized woman with with short dark hair sitting sideways on a small velvet sofa. Rightmost person is a plus size heavily tattooed woman with long dark hair sitting sideways on the floor. it's a reminder to schedule your best friend photoshoot :)

I want to be incredibly clear on my position here: photoshoots are for everyone, and boudoir photos are for everyone. You don’t have to ‘lose weight first,’ or ‘get in shape’ before you ‘deserve’ to make some memories! You inherently deserve a fun and comfortable experience celebrating yourself, enjoying life at anyโ€”and everyโ€”size.

One of the most common questions I hear is how to get flattering photos as a plus sized person! Modeling for photos isn’t about “minimizing” yourself. “Flattering” is not a synonym for “makes you look smaller.”

I think a pose that’s flattering is one in which you’re beautifully lit and feel great. One where you’re exuding an energy like dreamy or sexy or yearning. That’s why I include pose coaching automatically in all my sessions. Posing advice is useful for everyone, and I believe in posing each client to the best of their ability without regard to their body composition. It’s my goal to make you look amazing. It’s not my goal to hide your body.

photo of a short-haired plus size queer person with tattoos in lacy pink lingerie

Here are 6 tips to help you get great photos as a plus-size person:

  • Find the right photographer
  • Communicate with your photographer and team
  • Focus on the Positive
  • Be Brave
  • Choose outfits you love
  • Meet yourself where you are

Find The Right Photographer

Listen. You’re on the internet right now, which means you’ve seen some phenomenally fatphobic garbage opinions. I’m sorry about that. But the unfortunate reality is that not everyone has done the work to really integrate body positivity, body neutrality, or fat positivity into their lifestyles and their workโ€”especially when it comes to plus size boudoir photography.

You probably know people like this, and many of them have genuine good intentions! It takes a lot of practice not to project society’s (or our own) body image issues onto other people. This could be as simple as a loaded statement like “Do you want to try on an outfit that fits better,” instead of asking a neutral question like, “Do you like the fit? Are you comfortable and ready to shoot?” And it won’t really be about you, but it might puncture the bliss bubble of your empowering photoshoot.

A body positive photographer will have plus size people in their portfolio. Ideally multiple different people, in multiple outfits, from multiple angles, because they welcome these clients with enthusiasm! They celebrate body positivity through photography with diverse body representation. They will also share their feelings about the importance of inclusivity and showcasing all sizes and shapes on their social media or promotional materials. Perhaps they’ll have lived experience in a plus size body as well.

communicate with your photographer/team

Everybody gets a little nervous before being photographed, even bold personalities and seasoned professionals.

Set yourself up for success with good communication. Do you prefer the left side of your face in photos? Make sure it’s not covered by your hairstyle, so it’s the side the photographer gets the most often! Do you hate a certain fashion trend, or love a particular color? Share that info!

Do you have any physical discomforts or movement limitations? Many people can’t be on their knees for prolonged periods (especially on hard surfaces!), for example, and this is a great thing to share with your photographer so they can keep your comfort in mind while planning dynamic or engaging poses.

And don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself if you’ve been in a pose too long and need a break. Even a conscientious photographer can get lost in their flow. You know your body better than anyone. I always tell my clients if they need a break from a pose to just take it without asking me, and if I haven’t got the shot yet we’ll try it again when they’re refreshed.

A pale tattooed plus-sized brunette woman wearing purple lace lingerie, a black floral robe, and thigh high socks. she's kneeling in a gauzy white-draped window seat with one arm up and her head tilted back, framed in sheer white curtains with the window glowy behind her.

Be Brave

Confidence and enthusiasm are the most important things you can bring to a photoshoot. A can-do attitude always shines through!

If you don’t feel confident yet, fake it til you make it! Roleplay as you one year from now, as a person who is a devoted and loving caretaker for the body that houses your soul. Find some influencers with your body type and list the things you admire about them. Then imagine someone else making a list like that about you.

Enthusiasm will help you trust the process and have an open heart for yourself and your results. As mentioned above, you should communicate things you really don’t feel good about and never do anything that feels unsafe or uncomfortable. But if you’re on the fence about an outfit, ask if you can try it for a few photos. The worst that can happen if you don’t like them is you just don’t pick any of those for your final edits, and you never see them again. Or maybe you’ll discover you should’ve been wearing chaps with your buns out all along!

A gorgeous plus-sized Black and Native American woman posing dramatically in lingerie. The living is soft, glowy reds and golds in a fantasy boudoir themed set built at Neon Velvet Studio

Choose Outfits You Love

Don’t feel like you have to cover up with clothes or with posing! This isn’t about hiding parts of yourself. Ideally it’s about embracing yourself as a wholeโ€”body and personality. I don’t believe in putting plus-sized people in baggy clothes or hiding them behind a bedsheet. You deserve to take up space and you deserve to be seen. But if you’re not there yet in your journey I get it! Booty shorts and crop tops for the daring, and elegant flowy caftans for the casual or modest. Be brave and take risks, but honor your comfort zone too.

Choose boudoir outfits that feel sexy, thematic, or well-suited to your vibe. Do you love lace? Let’s get lacy! Want sheer mesh? I love it. A slinky satin dress? Let’s get luxurious. Clients often say, “I never thought I had the body for this,” and are delighted to discover that they wear a look as well as everyone else.

I know shopping for clothing and lingerie as a plus sized person can be demoralizing; it’s the pits to find an outfit you think is cute, only to discover the brand thinks a US12 is an XXL and they don’t have anything close to your size. Part of why I offer a client closet is to take some of the preparation stress off my clients before their session. I have cute plus size boudoir outfits up to 4XL and I’m always hunting for new pieces. Bring your tried and true favorite looks, and play dress up too!

halloween boudoir with goth lingerie. A boudoir photo of a curvy black woman with pinup style hair in an elegant pose. she's wearing mint and black custom lingerie with a corset, and the ambiance is ornate and gothic with candles and lush plants and a skull.

Focus on the Positive

Do you love your smile? Express that you want a bright and fun photo session instead of something more moody or mysterious.

Tell your photographer you especially want to accentuate your butt, your hip dips, or how long your legs are! Make sure a favorite birthmark is the star of the show, or specifically ask for photos of your hands loving on your curves and shape.

Do you love your expressive eyes? Practice in the mirror with emotion prompts to prepare.

I don’t like to dwell on negatives because I think obsessing over things you don’t like about your body unnecessarily increases stress, but if you know there’s a part you’d be more comfortable giving less attention in photos, share that too. You and your body are on a journey together. You’re teammates!

It’s a vulnerable experience to put your image in the hands of someone else, and we’ve all had results that just didn’t delight. But let me ask you something: do you think your friend who took that photo on a special night out thinks you look bad in it? Absolutely not. They think you look great! They’re looking at a person they love. And you should be looking at a person you love too.

boudoir photo of a pale tattooed nonbinary person with short yellow-orange hair wearing a matching underwear set in a tropical print. they are looking off into the distance with their hands on their thighs.

Meet Yourself Where You Are

We are constantly changing and evolving creatures; there’s no ‘fully formed’ version of you that’s more valuable than the person you are. Take the photos and celebrate you now. And if two years from now you love yourself even better (manifesting that for you and for all of us), take the photos and celebrate you then too! It’s all part of your unique journey.

If you’re at a place as a plus size person where you didn’t need the body-positive pep talk elements of this post, I’m so so happy for you! I hope to see your beautiful self soon, either as a client or someone loving yourself in a world that needs every bit of joy it can get.

Valentine Dreams: How to Heart Your Vibe

pink boudoir image of a tattooed woman with blonde and rainbow hair wearing pink lingerie, twirling a necklace in her fingers and looking at the camera. Valentine's Day boudoir inspiration

I’m an elder goth, the absolute last person you’d expect to get fired up about Valentine’s Day. And you’re right; I don’t care about it as a commercial occasion. But I love it as a themed boudoir session opportunity! These can feel more playful than a classic boudoir photoshoot because they’re colorful and can involve cute props. Valentine’s Day has always been campy and Valentine’s boudoir is too. Want hot pink femme euphoria? Got it! Or maybe you’re a them fatale. Iconic widow robe vibes. Or you want to dress up like a powder-blue fox and wear heart-shaped pasties. I’m for it.

There are three types of people I think Valentine’s Day boudoir sessions are perfect for:

  • People in love
  • People out of love
  • Happy singles

Let’s get into it!

People In Love

Got that special someone you want to be sure is thinking of you when you’re thinking of them? Nothing says love like the personal and sensual gift of sexy photos! Flowers are beautiful and candy is nice, but a custom photo album will last forever. Valentine’s Day boudoir sessions are a little sweet, a little spicy. Use them to set the romantic vibe for the year to follow.

Or really lean in and schedule a Deluxe Couples Session with your sweetie! You’ll be together forever in your album and prints, memorialized for the hot pair you are.

People Out of Love

Look babe, I get it. Heartbreak hurts. But sometimes the best way to move on is to be so hot they regret everything. Make them cry. Let them regret. Block their number. You’re hot and you’ve moved on. You’re dressing for revenge. You are a sultry siren ready to break the heart that broke yours, and maybe a few others on the way. I don’t judge. That’s for god and drag queens to do.

These photos are for you, but maybe they’re for the internet too. So let’s accentuate your favorite features and get you feeling fire again. And if you want extra moral support, book back-to-back sessions with your pal for Galentine’s Day and make it a party.

Happy Singles

Welcome to the Self Love Club! You’re living your glorious unattached life and this session is about you creating a glamorous archive of self-adoration. I love the other kinds of sessions but between you and me, this is my favorite one. You’ve got no one to prove anything to but yourself, and it’s time for a luxurious little treat. Like those expensive bath bombs, but much longer-lasting.

Get glamorous with professional hair and makeup styling, have a dress up dream in the Client Closet, and pose your heart out! You can be sweet or spicy or a bit of both! I’ve got time! You’re on a journey to fall in love with the most important person in your lifeโ€”yourself.

Schedule a free consultation to see if you’re ready for your closeup!

Book your Valentine’s Day Boudoir Session Now!

If you’ve made it this far I just need you to know that at some point writing this I confused St. Valentine with St. Sebastian and barely course corrected in time. But like… if somebody wants to do a St. Sebastian-themed session I think that would slap. Love you.
Please sign up for my mailing list if you want to.

Free Professional Headshot Photography for Trans Artists

What’s Going On?

With the support of Wax Poetic Clothing I’m hosting a day of free professional headshots for trans and non-binary writers, artists, creators, and makers in Philadelphia! If you’re a trans realtor or something I’m not going to turn you away, but my headshot style is a little funky and a lawyer or executive probably won’t be getting the right vibe.

Come get a new headshot and/or network a little, say hi, and shop Wax Poetic Clothing’s racks of new clothing and sale items!

Why am I doing this?

To spread a little joy and light to my friends in the trans community. You matter. Your art matters. I can’t hire you all or buy all your art and books, but I can do this to help you on your professional journey! From each according to their ability, etc.

Who Am I?

I’m Cassandra Panek (she/they), the owner of Neon Velvet Studio! I’m a queer artist and trans inclusive and LGBTQ friendly photographer based in Philadelphia. If you click around on this site you’ll see my primary work is boudoir photography for queer people and our allies, but I also do bespoke branding work and a few other things like fashion lookbooks (which is how I met Johanna of Wax Poetic Clothing, our other host!) and food photography. Nude Boudoir: the Naked Truth About Being Bare

On Artistic Nude Portraits

For as long as we’ve had bodies and art, artists have been celebrating the wonderful beauty of the nude figure. Bodies of all shapes, sizes, colors and genders doing all kinds of fantastic activities and luxurious lounging! Stark ass naked, wearing nothing but a smile, or occasionally a little drape of lovely fabric! I’ll be sharing a few examples from classical art with you today because I’m a nerd, and also because if I share nude boudoir photos directly in this post I won’t be able to share the post anywhere.

If you’d like to see the nude boudoir photography I’ve created, I’ll be linking that at the bottom of the page. Apologies for the inconvenience, but let’s pretend it’s a fun scavenger hunt.

Giovanni Boldini's painting "After the Bath," which features a brown-skinned nude woman with hair pulled back, toweling dry after a bath.
“After the Bath,” by Giovanni Boldini

There’s something wonderful and timeless about nudity; the human form is beautiful and largely unchanging on a cosmic scale. A body won’t be dated by fad wardrobe (though maybe by poofy 80s hairdos). The human physique is frankly a marvel. I’m obsessed.

Titian's painting "Venus with a Mirror," circa 1555 features a warm-toned oil on canvas of a pale soft-featured blonde woman being crowned by one cherub as another incredibly buff angel baby holds up a mirror for her to adore herself.

What is Nude Boudoir?

Like all boudoir, artistic nude portraits are intimate. They’re vulnerable to make and share. And the end results are often very powerful! Posture and posing matter so much; as a model you’re using your body to tell a story, set a scene, create a mood. Marry that with setting and lighting, and we can build a cinematic masterpiece in three simple steps (none of these steps are simple but that’s a future blog post).

A nude boudoir photoshoot has a lot in common with a regular boudoir session: it should be fun, something you’re excited for! Please never do anything that makes you uncomfortable. It’s never mandatory to show more skin than you want to. This artistic collaboration is all about enthusiastic consent!

Because comfort levels are unique and personal, open honest communication and a consultation are especially important to me for sessions like this. It’s important to find an artist you vibe with! You deserve to feel confident, comfortable, and safe with your photographer, regardless of what you areโ€”or aren’tโ€”wearing.

All Nude Boudoir Is Not Created Equal

How nude is nude? Let’s begin with a quick breakdown of types of nudity!

Non-explicit nudity: Honestly this is all wildly subjective, but my definition would include all the classical art included in this post.

Explicit/sexual nudity: NSFW. Nudity in situations designed to arouse. You can see how this gets vague depending on your worldview, right?

Implied nudes: Might be considered SFW depending on the details. Nudity is suggested to the viewer, but nothing spicy is visible in the imageโ€“it’s covered in fabric drape, a towel, or even a particularly deep shadow. Historically this could include obscuring intimate parts with a hand, but social media censors consider this “sexual touching,” so today an implied nude with a ‘hand bra’ would be flagged as sexually suggestive contentโ€”a great example of how the creation and reception of art are both interrelated with the times and circumstances in which they’re made.

The cool thing about implied nudity is that you don’t need to be fully naked to create this style of image; a model for boudoir implied nudes could still be wearing pasties, a thong or low-profile pair of underwear, a modesty pouch. Illusion at work!

Franรงois Boucher's "Aurora," a red and white chalk drawing on brownish paper circa 1733. the subject is a soft-bodied and round-faced nude woman who appears to be looking serenely down and away from the artist/viewer.

Nude Boudoir is For You If:

โœง You hate worrying about what to wear.
โœง You’re in touch with your sensual side and the idea of nude photos of yourself thrills you.
โœง You want to star in timeless fine art nude portraits.
โœง This isn’t your first boudoir rodeo and you want to try something new!
โœง You love art history and long to recline dramatically on soft pillows, possibly eating symbolic fruit.
โœง You never want to be able to share the images on instagram (I joke, but I kinda don’t joke)
โœง It’s time to commemorate a moment in time with your body. Maybe it will be changing soon, going through a major life transition! Maybe you just love it as-is! Or maybe this is part of your journey to loving your body in all its present glory.
โœง Your favorite feature would otherwise be obscured by an outfit: maybe you love the natural shape of your unadorned butt or hip dips, or your bra strap covers part of your favorite tattoo!
โœง You don’t feel you can move and pose freely in clothes!

What Do I Do with My Artistic Nude Portraits?

I knew somebody who put a 24×36″ gorgeous fine art nude image of themselves in their guest bathroom where any visitor could see it. Other clients order discreet 5×7″ print collections in a custom keepsake box, or small albums that are easy to hide from tiny household fingers but can be viewed by the subject (and friends?) at will! Some clients ask me to submit their photo sessions to magazines because they want the world to see. Some people go all-digital, and text their bespoke nudes. I keep a boudoir photo of my partner as my phone lock screen. My partner has a polaroid of me in their wallet. Some people put their boudoir nudes on onlyfans for the world to see.

As always, nude images or clothed, the photos we make together are totally private. I don’t post them unless you choose to sign a model release allowing me to share one, some, or all of them!
